Gary Neville on BBC
Anyone see it?

Whatever you think of his punditry, the bloke clearly gives a shit and speaks brilliantly at how people connect to footballers but not politicians.

Shame he isn't in politics, he'd make a massive impact

You cunts?

Re: Gary Neville on BBC
He actually wouldn't as he knows little about politics and policy, his only mantra is about the inequalities in life, that will always remain regardless of who is in power.

Politics would ruin somebody like Gary Neville.

He's better off staying well clear of that cesspit - an even bigger hole, socially, than that created by the cotton wool world of Premier League footballers.

he wasn't called Red Nev because he played for Manchester United.

A modern day Arthur SCARGILL

Re: Gary Neville on BBC
Plus, it's easy from a distance to roll out a few convenient lines about tackling inequality once you're a multi-millionnaire with the huge audience, and access to media etc, that being a former England and Man Utd footballer brings.

Neville uses that platform better than most, granted. And he does seem like a decent fella. But it's a platform he enjoys because of his own privilege - and I notice he's not carping on about it all when he's trying to strike his mega property deals in Manchester.

Politics wouldn't ruin Neville at all.

He's more than strong enough to deal with the likes of Starmer and Johnson.

Re: Gary Neville on BBC
If Gary Neville is so passionate about inequality why did he accept raking in so much money as a professional footballer and why hasn't he given away his millions? Why is he a property develop and why does he invest in money making 'projects'?

Neville is just another champagne socialist egomaniac to categorise alongside fellow 'red' Manc Rashford. Talking of Rashford, I see 'Media Studies' GCSE students will now be forced to study his 'campaigning' as part of their Mickey Mouse course. The indoctrination of today's youth shows no limits.

Where does that leave the current cabinet?

They'd tear him to shreds. Death by a thousand cuts.

You have no idea what those backbenches, and those who operate in political shadows, including the wealthy donors, are like.

Why do you think we end up with the politicians we have? They are the product of a system. One that treats the likes of Neville, or any former sports figures, as mere window dressing.

Put Neville the property developer in a room with some welathy political donors and you'd have a scandal withing weeks.

Irons completely out of touch as usual.

Neville has just setup an academy for under privileged kids in and around Salford which was the reason he was on the show in the first place.

Fo - in the same category. But many of them have, unfortunately, made their reputations and millions by virtue of that political access.

It's harder for those coming in from 'the outside', unless they are prepared to play that game.

It's a greasy, greasy pole.

Come On You Irons 11:18 Wed Sep 22
Re: Gary Neville on BBC
So he's set up an academy? Big deal. Any cunt that do that, multi millionaire or not.

The fact is Neville is a multi millionaire ex footballer who just loves to spout off and lecture about inequality like Lineker and Rashford. Hypocritical, holier than though cunts, the lot of them.

If Neville gave away most of his wealth and lived a modest life, he might be worth listening to.

Re: Gary Neville on BBC
Nope.

I've heard all of this before - about so many non-political figures. Covered UK politics and the like day-in, day-out since 1997.

They'd either eat him for breakfast, or he'd end up a watered-down version of himself in order to placate the money men and power-brokers.

Or they'd just treat him like a curious novelty and shove him on the backbenches, like they did with Glenda Jackson and other 'non-political' entrants. She entered politics with a lot of bluster, word soup and gusto: and what did she actually achieve?

Re: Gary Neville on BBC
I find it amusing and baffling you're slagging off a footballer for being well off.

This is coming from the poster who EARNS A 6(SIX) FIGURE SALARY and likely does absolutely fuck all, even though he's apparently well off - so you're not really in a position to have a pop at Neville who as I've just proven is at least helping.

Moron.

The hefty taxes that I voluntarily pay (and choose not to avoid, like many 'celebrities' do) do plenty to fund spongers and peasants, son. So I do more than enough.

Also, I'm not a hypocrite. You'll find right wingers like me are the most honest people out there. I love spending my money on living the good life and I don't feel one jot of guilt about it.

Fuck other people, we all have to look out for ourselves ultimately. It's a dog eat dog world out there.

Neville has earned and is still earning what he is worth - the markets determine that worth and he makes the choice as to whether to go for a six figure salary or hold out for a seven or eight figure one; if the market think he's worth it, they will pay - just as they pay OTE for umbrella salesmen.

What fucking use would that money be should he give (GIVE) it away to somebody who has not earned it (no matter how entitled they or their proxies feel that they should have it).

Not being earned, it would just get pissed up the wall on it's way back into the accounts of big business, then the begging bowls would be out for more.

YOU can live on 20 grand a year - do you give away every penny above that you earn?

COYi - So you're having a pop at Neville for making a load of money from being a professional footballer and property developer but you say fuck everyone and look after yourself?

You really are a fucking idiot.
